Global Gratitude is a small site for sending thank-you notes. It collects as little as it can get away with, sells nothing, and runs no advertising or tracking of any kind.

What is collected

WhatWhenWhy
The card you writeWhen you post it to the wall or email itTo show it on the public wall and to deliver it
Recipient email address and nameOnly if you email a cardTo deliver that one card. Nothing else is ever sent to it.
Your nameOnly if you type oneTo sign the card and the wall post. Leave it blank and the card is anonymous.
Your email addressOnly if you type oneSo the recipient can write back. It is placed in the reply-to field of that one email.
IP addressOn every request to the site's functionsRate limiting, to stop the site being used to send spam. Held in memory only and not written to any database.

There are no accounts, no passwords, and no mailing list. Your email address is never added to one, because there isn't one.

What is not collected

Storage in your own browser

Three small values are kept in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and are not readable by anyone else:

Clearing your browser data removes both. Nothing breaks if you do, and nothing breaks if your browser blocks site data entirely.

Your name is deliberately not remembered between visits.

The public wall

Emailing a card does not publish it. A card you email goes to that person and nowhere else. Putting a card on the public wall is a separate, deliberate step, with its own signature field that starts blank and defaults to anonymous.

A card you do post to the wall is public. Anyone can read it, and it can be found through the search box on that page. It is stored with the name you signed it with, or with "Anonymous" if you left the name blank.

Please do not put anything private in a card you post to the wall: no addresses, no phone numbers, no surnames of people who have not agreed to it. Links and email addresses are rejected automatically.

Some cards on the wall are examples written to show what a thank-you can look like, rather than messages sent between two people. This is stated on the wall itself.

Shared card links

The "Copy link" button builds a link that carries the card after the # in the address. That part of a link is never sent to any web server, so the card text does not appear in server logs or in referrer headers.

This is not secrecy. The card is encoded, not encrypted, and anyone who has the link can read it. There is no way to withdraw a link once you have sent it, so treat it like a postcard rather than a sealed envelope.

Who the data is shared with

Only the services needed to run the site:

ServiceWhat it receives
Netlify (hosting)Standard web request data, including your IP address
Supabase (database)The card text, the recipient category, and the signature on wall posts
Resend (email delivery)The recipient's address and name, the card, and your name and reply address if given
Anthropic (card writing)The memory and qualities you type, only if you ask the site to help write the card. Not sent if you write the card yourself.

None of these receive anything for advertising purposes. Each has its own privacy terms.

If you receive a card you did not want

Cards are sent by people, one at a time, and the site does not send anything else to that address afterwards. If you received one you did not want, or you believe the site is being misused, reply to the email or write to hello@globalgratitudes.com and it will be dealt with.

Removing something

To have a card taken off the wall, or any data about you deleted, email hello@globalgratitudes.com with enough detail to find it โ€” roughly when it was posted and a phrase from it is usually enough. There is no charge and no form to fill in.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly keep data from them. If you believe a child has posted something, email the address above and it will be removed.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it.

A word of caution. This page describes honestly what the site does. It is not legal advice and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. If Global Gratitude starts taking payments, running ads, or operating at scale, have a professional look it over.
